At least eight people have been killed and there are fears the death toll could climb higher following a roadside bomb in the centre of the Christian half of Beirut.
The bomb went off in the historic Sassine square, one of the most expensive districts in the city, where Christians gather to celebrate Christmas and Easter, shop for luxury goods, or hang out in cafes.
