Congress-led UPA government at the Centre has brought in a number of welfare schemes for the poor and downtrodden. And the government received all the inspirations for such moves from UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The flag ship employment guarantee policy MNREGA, the landmark legislation of RTI, and the RTE policy are some examples. Sonia Gandhi always wanted to ensure the welfare and development of the poor in the country.
