Shutting down Europe's airspace was an overreaction based on speculation, not science. That's the opinion of Frank Furedi, who is a professor of Sociology at the University of Kent in Britain. He is well known for his work on sociology of fear, therapy culture, paranoid parenting and sociology of knowledge. After five days of paralysis, a handful of flights are finally taking off from European airports. Parts of the continent's airspace have been reopened giving hope to millions of stranded travellers.
