There are three things that can happen if you fail or refuse to take a breath test or blood test. The first if they may try and take away your drivers license. Depending on your age and criminal history, that can range anywhere from 60 days to 2 years. Also if you fail or refuse to take a breath test or blood test they can use it against you as a sign of intoxication in trial. However on the flip side you can also take it as a sign of sobriety (like you know better than to take the test.) And then the last if you refuse to take a breath or blood test the officers can apply for a warrant to try and take your blood.
