For one night only Florence and the Machine hit a different note for MTV's Unplugged series.
However, lead singer Florence Welch admitted it wasn't totally unplugged.
SOUNDBITE: Florence Welch, Florence and the Machine, saying (English):
"It's not that stripped back. Stripped back in Florence sense."
The group kicked off the music channel's 2012 season, performing an hour long, 10-song set that included songs from their new album, Ceremonials, as well as the hit "Dog Days are Over."
Florence even covered Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness", which she said is her favorite song.
The soft spoken singer is a noticeably different person off stage.
One day after her performance she explained she goes to a "different place" when she sings, saying interviews are difficult.
SOUNDBITE: Florence Welch, Florence and the Machine, saying (English):
"It's a funny thing doing interviews because the whole point, the whole reason why I perform and write the songs is because I'm always so clinically incapable of expressing how I feel in a conversation. Like, someone's like, 'so, do you?' Emotions, and like relationship stuff, I'm just like, can I sing - I tell you what, I'm going to write a song about it, sing it to a couple of thousand strangers and then tell you it's not about you anyway. How about that?."
The show will premiere on MTV and MTV's global websites on April 8th.
