http://www.lockergnome.com/ - If you've been following the various upgrades and enhancements to the videos featured on this channel, you may have noticed that in addition to more HD content, the lighting on many of the videos has changed as well. This is done in order to allow the FaceTime HD camera on the MacBook Pro to record at a solid 30 frames per second.
Lighting does a lot more than just improve how the subject of your video looks, it has a lot to do with the quality and clarity of the image as well. Everything from initial capture to the final compressed product looks better if the original subject is lighted properly.
During this upgrade, it was important that things in the home office not only stay somewhat neat and tidy, but that the rigging itself not interfere with the live stream. Having a wide-angle lens on the majority of the office makes tripod and other standard light rigging difficult. For this application, we decided to use the recessed lighting already present in the room and modify it to provide brighter and better focused light.
