In what may be one of the most expensive Sunday drives in history, 14 cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Mercedes-Benz slammed into each other in western Japan on Sunday (December 4).
The accident involved a group of luxury car aficionados, Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun said, who were on their way to Hiroshima when one of the Ferraris slipped and ran into the median on the road.
In total, the pile up involved 8 Ferraris, 3 Mercedes-Benz, a Lamborghini and two other vehicles with some media outlets estimating that the super cars alone were worth nearly 300 million yen (3.8 million US dollars).
10 people suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Witnesses said that the group of super cars were travelling far over the road's speed limit.
The highway was shut for over 6 hours due to the pile-up, as police cleaned up the pieces of the wrecked vehicles.
