Vegetables And Fruits - Juiced Vs. Raw - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Today I am going to talk about whether it is better to have vegetables and fruits as juice or raw. And basically it does not really matter with vegetable and fruits , whether you eat them raw or cooked. You are going to get nutrients either way. Some vegetables need to be cooked, like kale should not be eaten raw, obviously turnips should not be eaten raw, potatoes should not be eaten raw. But a lot, you know most of the vegetables and all fruits can be eaten raw and you will get all the nutrients that you need. As far as juicing, vegetable juices yes, fruit juices no. The reason you do not want to have fruit juice is because you are taking all the fiber out of the fruit, and what you are getting is a big hit of sugar. So that really is not any better then drinking sweeten soda or sports drink or sweeten ice tea. Yes your getting little bit more in the way of nutrients, but your getting such a big hit of sugar. So you really should eat your fruits whole whether they are raw or cooked. As far as vegetables juicing, vegetable juicing is great, it is a really, you get a concentrated form of the nutrients because if any of you have ever juiced, you noticed that you need pounds and pounds of juice to make about eight ounces of, pounds and pounds of vegetables to make about eight ounces of juice. If any of you have ever juiced, you will notice that you need pounds and pounds of raw vegetables to get about eight ounces of vegetable juice. So you are getting very very concentrated nutrition. And in this case, it is okay that the fiber is not in there because you are getting so much in the way of nutrition otherwise and your not getting a big sugar hit. I would recommend the vegetables that you stay away from for juicing would be the sweet ones, such as carrots or beets. Those are fine, eat them cooked, eat them raw, but do not juice them because that when you take the fiber out of those two, it acts like fruit and again it will just be a big hit of sugar. So my advice is eat your fruits and vegetables any way you can because your going to get lots and lots of nutrients and raw is not necessarily better then cooked.
