Microsoft announced on Wednesday that it has dismantled the Lumma Stealer malware operation with the support of global law enforcement, according to CNBC. Its digital crimes unit found over 394,000 Windows computers infected worldwide between March 16 and May 16. The tech giant said hackers favored the Lumma malware to steal passwords, credit cards, bank accounts, and cryptocurrency wallets. Microsoft said it dismantled Lumma’s web infrastructure with support from a court order issued by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Microsoft said Cloudflare, BitSight, and Lumen assisted in dismantling the Lumma malware ecosystem.
