New Delhi, May 14, 2025 (ANI): Security of EAM Dr S Jaishankar has been enhanced by central government after recent threat assessment. An additional bulletproof vehicle has been added to his convoy by CRPF: Top sources said on Wednesday. Jaishankar currently receives 'Z' category armed protection from CRPF for his nationwide movements and stay. CRPF made this decision after threat assessment linked to India-Pakistan tensions indicated need for increased protection. Notably, in October last year, Jaishankar's security level was raised from 'Y' to 'Z' category. CRPF, after taking over the charge from Delhi Police, provides round-the-clock Z-category security to EAM. EAM Jaishankar’s protection is ensured by CRPF team that includes over a dozen armed commandos. Enhancement in EAM’s security came following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. Pakistani military launched missiles and drone targeting several Indian cities and civilian areas on May 07, to which Indian armed forces retaliated with appropriate military action on Pakistani military bases. However, Pakistan continued to escalate the situation until ceasefire understanding was reached on May 10. Earlier, India launched decisive ‘Operation Sindoor’ destroying terrorist hotbeds in Pakistan, PoK on May 07. Operation Sindoor was carried out in retaliation to terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22.
