Shopify will not approve new hires unless managers prove AI cannot do the job, according to The Wall Street Journal. CEO Tobi Lütke said in a memo that all employees must integrate AI into their workflows and justify why AI can't perform a task before requesting additional staff or resources. Lütke said employees will be evaluated on AI usage in performance reviews. The company has about 8,100 remote employees and is shifting focus toward larger clients while pushing AI adoption to sustain growth.
