A man was rescued alive from the rubble of a hotel in Naypyidaw, Myanmar, more than 100 hours after a deadly 7.7 magnitude earthquake devastated the country.

The man was trapped in the lower two floors of the six-storey Hotel Aye Chan Thar building in Uttar Thiri Township. He was pulled out through a small hole and placed on a stretcher at 12:30am on Wednesday (1800GMT Tuesday).

The earthquake, the strongest to hit the Southeast Asian country in more than a century, has killed at least 2,719 people and toppled ancient pagodas and modern buildings alike.
