President Trump said that his key advisor and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has not weighed in on tariffs on cars made outside of the U.S. because he may have a conflict, according to CNBC. The president said Musk has never asked him for business favors. Musk contributed $290 million to Trump’s campaign and leads the Department of Government Efficiency while he remains CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. Tesla told the U.S. Trade Representative that some vehicle parts remain hard to source domestically and urged caution on trade actions due to potential downstream impacts.
