On March 22, 2025, Dr. Baloch was arrested after police dispersed a sit-in demonstration in Quetta, which resulted in three fatalities. She was subsequently detained in Quetta District Jail under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
Family members have reported being denied visitation rights and the ability to deliver food to Dr. Baloch during her detention. Her sister expressed concerns about the conditions of her confinement.
