Driving Home: Holly is driving at night when she stops at a gas station to refuel her father’s car. The attendant warns her about a girl in a white or blue gown and advises her to keep driving if she sees anything unusual.
Road Blockage: After filling up, Holly encounters large logs blocking the road, which appear to have been placed there intentionally. Despite moving them aside, her car fails to start.
Hitchhiking: With no cell phone service and unable to call for help, Holly reluctantly decides to hitchhike. She is picked up by Jason, who had previously warned her at the gas station. He drops her off at a motel called Roadway Inn after cautioning her about strangers.

Motel Check-In: At midnight, Holly checks into the motel and pays manager Joe for a room (Room 9) and roadside assistance. Joe assigns his employee Tommy to handle Holly’s car in the morning but warns her not to disturb other guests.
Strange Encounters: Upon entering her room, Holly discovers Tommy cleaning it without prior notice. He assures her that he will take care of her car but mentions that the room’s phone isn’t working.
Sedation Incident: Feeling uneasy about her surroundings, Holly attempts to stay awake with coffee from a vending machine but ends up feeling sedated instead. She manages to return to her room before losing consciousness.
Creepy Confrontations: After waking up later, she confronts Joe about strange occurrences including an unknown man spying on her and aggressive behavior from another man trying to break into her room.
Climactic Events: As tension escalates with intrusions into her space and Joe’s dismissive attitude towards contacting authorities after an incident involving an intruder, Holly becomes convinced that something sinister is happening in Norwood Valley.
