A federal judge has temporarily halted President Donald Trump's incentive plan for federal workers to resign before Thursday's midnight deadline. Judge George O'Toole Jr. paused the initiative pending a hearing on Monday, to assess a lawsuit filed by federal employee unions. More than 40,000 federal employees accepted the resignation offer with pay until September 30, though some expressed confusion about its terms. Federal employees will be notified of the paused deadline, which the White House views as an opportunity to increase resignations.
