Bathinda: In order to stop the increasing customs and wasteful expenditure in the villages, steps are being taken by the newly formed panchayats to stop wasteful expenditure by passing panchayat resolutions. The unanimously elected panchayat of village Dikh under Maur Mandi in Bathinda district has taken many important decisions and passed resolutions these days. These resolutions are being discussed all over Punjab. Gurdeep Singh of the village has been unanimously made the sarpanch. Important decisions of Sarva Samiti Panchayat - Jalebi and Pakoda will not be made The entire village panchayat has been formed unanimously. Gurdeep Singh told ETV Bharat that his panchayat had convened a meeting recently and during this meeting some special resolutions were passed regarding stopping unnecessary expenses in the villages. These resolutions have been unanimously ratified by the village. Among these, the main one is that if a person dies in the village, then jalebis and pakodas will not be made on that person's funeral, but a simple funeral will be held. If any person violates these orders of the Panchayat, then he will have to deposit 21 thousand rupees to the Panchayat. Strong resolution passed on drug trafficking Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh said that the sale of sting energy drinks has been banned in the shops in the village. The shopkeepers of the village have been appealed not to sell tobacco and cigarettes to children below the age of 18. Gurdeep Singh said that if anyone is caught selling drugs in the village, legal action will be taken against him by the panchayat and the village panchayat and the numberdar will not even give bail to that person. Only Rs. 1100 will be given to the Mahant who comes to the village to congratulate him as a token of gratitude, while the ASI and BC communities will give only Rs. 500 to the Mahants. There has been a ban on making announcements by installing speakers in the village. Announcement of prizes for meritorious students Sarpanch Gurdeep Singh said that many other decisions have been taken which will increase mutual brotherhood and cooperation in the village. He said that a library is being built in the village by the unanimously elected panchayat. Apart from this, if a child passes in the first division, he will be duly honored by the Panchayat and any child who wants to go outside the village for further studies will be provided with all possible assistance by the Panchayat. No cases reached the police station after the formation of the Panchayat. The people of the village said that the village agrees with the resolutions passed by the Panchayat and this was taken by the Panchayat to control wasteful expenditure. It is a good step, therefore the entire village stands with the Panchayat and the tradition of resolving the conflicts in the village through the Panchayat itself is being adopted. At the same time, Gurdeep Singh said that the village panchayat formed unanimously about 3 months ago has not allowed any issue to go to the police station yet and neither have any houses in the Margat Ghar Wale made jalebis or pakodas in these three months. The entire village is guarding the resolutions passed by the panchayat. This is strengthening the communal harmony even more.
