On Christmas Eve, Jacob made a decision he would come to regret.
He had handed the car keys to his wife after their evening at the pub, thinking it would be a harmless act.
The next morning, as he walked along the canal path with his dogs, the winter air was still and crisp.
But as he rounded a bend, he witnessed a car, half-submerged in the cold water of the canal.
The scene was chilling, as the vehicle appeared to be silently sinking into the depths.
