Aircraft erupts into a fireball shortly after landing in South Korea
Eyewitness footage obtained by Reuters on Sunday, December 29, showed the moment a Jeju Air plane crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea, killing 62 people.
As the plane touched down on the tarmac, it appeared to land without its landing gear deployed. The aircraft skidded down the runway and veered off before slamming into a wall and erupting into a fireball.
The crash on Sunday occurred as Jeju Air flight 7C2216, carrying 175 passengers and six crew members, on a flight from the Thai capital of Bangkok, was landing shorty after 9 a.m. (0000 GMT) at the airport in the country’s south, South Korea’s transport ministry said.
