PREPARING TRANSFER OF POWER
President Jair Bolsonaro on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2022 meets briefly with Vice President-Elect Geraldo Alckmin at the presidential palace on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2022. Alckmin, who heads Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s transition team, had arrived in the capital of Brasilia, launching the process that will culminate with da Silva’s Jan. 1 inauguration as president. Bolsonaro and Alckmin met four days after Bolsonaro’s tight election loss that sparked protests by his supporters amid his refusal to publicly concede.
