A lot of times an employee may not feel comfortable coming to management with a complaint. They're nervous about retaliation or they feel like an employee complaint won't be taken seriously. So by hiring a neutral thirdparty investigator the employer can showthat they do take it seriously.
After Ihave a true understanding from the employer’s perspective of what thiscomplaint entails, I'll sit down with theemployee and I'll review their complaintwith them. I'll make sure that I have acomplete understanding of what they feellike they're experiencing, what this misconduct, or sexual harassment or discrimination entails.
Next we'll talk to thoseother witnesses and make sure that wehave an understanding of what theirperspective is. If they're facing thesame types of harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment or what they witnessedin terms of the complainant’s experience.
I'll then turn to management and I'llreview these statements with them andI'll ask them from their perspective.
After I have conducted all my interviews, I'll provide the employer with a list ofaction items as well as any possiblelegal liabilities they have based onthis complaint.
