বিমানে ভ্রমণের জন্য সবচেয়ে নিরাপদ বছর হিসেবে বিবেচিত হয়েছে ২০১৭ সাল। ডাচ প্রতিষ্ঠান 'টু সেভেনটি' এবং 'দ্যা এয়ারলাইন্স সেফটি নেকওয়ার্ক' এর গবেষণায় উঠে এসেছে এ তথ্য।

বিমান উড্ডয়ন ও অবতরণে নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা থাকলেও ঘটেছে ছোটখাটো কিছু দুর্ঘটনা। গবেষণা প্রতিবেদন বলছে, গেলো বছর ১০টি বড় ধরনের বিমান দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে, যেখানে মৃতের সংখ্যা ৭৯।
