NASA is working to bring supersonic flight back by eliminating the disruptive sonic boom that planes traveling faster than the speed of sound tend to create. The agency recently got a step closer to that goal by miniaturizing the testing equipment that will be needed to assess the quiet flight abilities of its upcoming supersonic X-plane.
