After three Russians were arrested earlier this month in a raid for $8.6 million worth of Bitcoin trading, you could say they are nyet happy.
The arrest was made after the Russians allegedly traded 500 million rubles, or $8.6 million, worth of the cryptocurrency. While owning Bitcoin is legal in Russia, trading it is not.
A raid might seem extreme for a cybercrime, but since the cryptocurrency can be used to launder money, the Russian government sees Bitcoin as a threat. In recent months, however, the parliament has considered legalizing it on a limited basis.
Cold comfort for these three suspects.
