Yuuki Nishimoto, fascinated by inkmaking performance
墨絵アーティストの西元祐貴さん（２９）が４日、東京・汐留の日本テレビで開催中のイベント「超☆汐留パラダイス！」でライブパフォーマンスを行った。
西元さんは伝統的な技法にとらわれず、短時間で大胆かつ繊細な作品を制作する気鋭の若手画家。２０１１年から路上でのライブパフォーマンスを開始し、舞台、ゲームなどさまざまなコンテンツとコラボレーションしてきた。
この日のステージでは、縦２メートル×横３メートルの特大和紙に約１０分間で躍動感あふれる龍を描き、観客を魅了。龍を選んだ理由について、「来年から個展をはじめようと思って、そのテーマが龍なので。あと、目の前に大きなビルがあったので、それを取り巻くような龍が描きたかった」と説明した。
パフォーマンスの準備として、１週間くらい前からスケッチブックにラフを描き、構図や墨の濃淡などの全体像をイメージするという。
作品のヒントは日々の生活で見つけるそうで、「テレビを見たりとか映画だったり、写真だったり、最近は漫画から取り入れることも多いですね」と明かした。

About the reason why I chose a dragon, "I wanted to start a solo exhibition next year, so that theme is a dragon, and since there was a big building in front of me, I wanted to draw a dragon that surrounds it" did.
