Tiangong-2 is capable of docking with manned and cargo spacecraft and will accommodate two taikonauts for up to 30 days during its orbiting the Earth. In space Tiangong-2 will conduct 14 science experiments to prepare for longer space flight and longer space habitation.
The space lab will also carry out in-orbit refueling and in-orbit maintenance.
