ADNAN OKTAR: God says in the Qur'an, "When they see what has been promised to them." – “what has been promised to them.” Mahdi is called the Mahdi al-Mawud (the Promised Mahdi). God says in the Quran, "When they see what has been promised to them, when the promise given to them comes true." What does this mean? It would be false to say that it refers to the Day of Judgment, because if it were so, then the dabbat al-ardh would not be valid. Then what is this promise given by God that they see, that they encounter? He will invite people to put their faith in God. That person, that being invites people to put their faith in God by means of dabbat al-ardh (beast of the earth). People say, "There is no Mahdi." Here is a verse in the Qur'an regarding the being which clearly, unmistakably talks about Hazrat Mahdi (as). In that verse, God talks about a human being, someone who calls, invites people to have faith.
