Metz bounced back from last week's disaster against Lorient with a thumping win over Nancy in the Lorraine derby. The unstoppable Ismaila Sarr gave Metz the lead after an outstanding solo run before the half hour mark only for Faitout Maouassa to equalis 12 minutes later. Opa Nguette then scored the winner in the second half as Metz just about ensured their Ligue 1 status for next season.
