OnLive has just received a new round of funding from some major backers including AT&T Media Holdings Inc., Lauder Partners, Warner Bros., Autodesk, and Maverick Capital. OnLive just announced this in a recent press release and also said that this series of funding is the largest yet for the "cloud gaming pioneer." This is important news for the gaming community. The technology that OnLive is trying to release is ground breaking. Cloud computing is considered to be the future of not only games, but computers in general. Clearly with companies like Warner Bros. and AT&T backing them, they must be on the right track.
Yes, the iPad has a virtual keyboard, and even a cool keyboard dock that turns the tablet into a quasi-desktop device. But the dock can't be used for lap typing, and the Apple demos didn't make iPad typing seem as comfortable as pounding away on an old-fashioned hinged Netbook. For long-term writing on the go, a physical Netbook keyboard with an attached angled screen still wins.
It would seem to be a superior option to Apple's AirPrint; it works on Android and iOS and on any printer (as long as the proper build of Chrome is installed and you enable the cloud service google Print connector in Chrome), unlike AirPrint, which only works with eprint enabled printers (or at least it will be a superior option when Linux and Mac are supported).
