A video showing a mentally ill prison inmate in the U.S. being dragged by guards has been made public. Abdul Akbar died in November last year - 8 days after this video was shot.
He spent more than three hours in a segregation area before being taken to hospital. He was serving a sentence in Detroit for breaking and entering. Initially, doctors concluded that Akbar died of natural causes related to heart disease and not from injuries received during the incident.
Detroit Police concluded that no criminal activity took place. But after the video emerged Akbar's daughter filed a wrongful death lawsuit, believing the prison guards should be held responsible.
