Another level by Dalias, making this the second level designer of the Standalone missions to have more than one level (Fontaine being the first). As Marc Fontaine was inspired by Dalis, it would stand to reason that Dalias would have more than one level.
It seems Dalias likes small and simple levels mostly focused on a cube shaped room with a few weapons in a symmetrical or near symmetrical design. As I have stated before, such levels are rather simplistic to make as they require few brushes but also tend to lose their appeal rather quickly.
This level is made out of a pool of Lava, a central platform with a Rocket Launcher, 4 platforms on each corner from the central platform, and 4 moving platforms travelling between two of the platforms and the central platform. If you are looking for complexity, look elsewhere, as this level is pretty straight forward.
As usual with these types of levels, I find myself bored with them due to the lack of exploration. Four of the spawn locations in Multiplayer are right next to each other, all the others are still pretty much in sight of each other. I don't really encourage Deathmatch levels where the player cannot get a break, especially as it can support spawn killing.
The level is designed around the Rocket Launcher in the middle of the map. I can see the benefits of the Nailgun, especially as the Rocket Launcher has a little bit of ammo, but the lacking amount of ammo means that you couldn't cause much damage with the former weapon. As for the Double-Barrelled Shotgun, I get the feeling it is virtually pointless here.
This level just has nothing to really appeal me, it feels really simplistic and doesn't seem to be an enjoyable Deathmatch experience. There is a level pretty similar to this one, LavaBox, though at least that level had stuff going on besides the floating platforms. Definitely not recommendable unless you were a fan of LavaBox, in which case you are basically cheating yourself by playing an inferior version.
