Lazio's Cameroonian midfielder Joseph Minala is being accused of faking his age. A Senegalese website claimed that Minala confessed to them that he is in fact 41, not 17. Manila joined the club back in summer and recently participated in the Viareggio Cup Youth Tournament.
Further debates over his age came when Minala posted several pictures of himself on social media websites in which he appeared older than his actual age.
Lazio was forced to release the teenager's birth certificate to prove he wasn't an adult, and Minala himself issued a statement denying the accusations.
"He is a kid with the head of a kid. He only wants to play football as he did on the road years ago barefoot. That is the only thing he is focused on and being a talent because he is a talent," Italian journalist Max Evangelista told BBC News.
