Why is it the nature of our kind
to be an egoist
to serve only one's self-interest
and leave others in the abyss
Why do we hate and destroy
Why do we harm all unknowns
And no matter how hard we try to escape it
it seems engrained in our bones
Why do we only seek our interests
and deny our humanity
Why do we minimize our connections with others
and with our reality
I cannot answer these questions
no matter how hard I may try
I reflect on human nature
and can only ask myself...why?
