Playing quietly
by the fire
lulling her lolling
dolly drowsily to sleep.
The doll just about
dropping off when
suddenly she shouted &
shouted & shouted.
“What’s the matter...what’s the matter! ”
I screamed...totally panic-fied.
“Shhhh! ” she shouted.
“I’m just saying my voice
in CAPITAL LETTERS! ”
“And now I’m making my voice
tip toe away! ”
“See! ” she whispered.
Speechless.
I nodded.
