I see the footprints in the sand
walking towards the sunset plumes.
I visualise in my mind
two lovers walking hand in hand
at the closing of another day
and wonder what their thoughts were
as they passed along this way.
Had they ventured here
for a moonlight swim
beneath the silence
that engulfs us all?
Did they listen to that final reverie
as the sun faded away
and will they be back again
at the end of another day
to leave their footprints in the sand.
These are only questions
that only they can answer.
