Such a long time gone
But still freshly missed
Grief so unrelenting and brutal
He was the light within my darkness.
Never questioned nor doubted
Raised a hand to punish
Always there for me
Giving love and support.
Never spoke but good of folk
Worked long hours raising sons
Always doing his best
Earning his daily bread with gratitude.
I never understood his eminence
How much I loved him
Until he was gone and coffin dead
And now with each heartbeat I miss him.
