Get the brush and black,
Let's paint the sky,
Stop those birds from calling by,
Take that candle from the shed,
Write with the light, 'Time for bed.'
Get those girls in bumblebee blouses
To bumble back to their flower tree-houses.
Get that wolf choir
To howl the moon song,
And the fireflies
To spell the notes along.
Take this worm off your hook,
Pull that line out the brook.
All of us know the fish are meek
Way down by Sleepy Creek.
Take one last swan dive,
Take it way from up on high,
Let it ripple a lullaby.
And forget those willows,
Let them weep,
Because little heroes
Need to sleep.
