With Halloween just around the corner, a horror film tops this week's North American box office.

Despite poor reviews, the low-budget "Ouija" collected twenty million dollars in weekend tickets sales -- knocking out Brad Pitt's World War Two drama "Fury" from first place.

It tells the story of a group of young girls who reach out to the spirit world in search of answers about their friend's mysterious death.

Another new entry -- action thriller "John Wick" -- exceeded expectations, nabbing the number two spot with 14.2 million.

Keanu Reeves, best known for the"Matrix" franchise, stars as a hitman out for revenge against Russian mobsters.

"Fury" settled in at number three, raking in an additional 13 million in ticket sales, while Ben Affleck's mystery thriller "Gone Girl" grossed 11.1 million, coming in fourth.
