Who remembers playing out
When it was safe to do
Lucky bags and mix ups
The good old penny chew.
Board games then were all the rage
And tv was a treat
And as a family we'd sit down
And quietly we'd eat.
Manners were a big thing
And smacking was allowed
You'd work hard for exam results
To make your parents proud
With dad you'd build a go cart
With mother you would bake
Your room you had to tidy
The rubbish out you'd take
We never had Nintendo's
No Xbox or Playstation
But we were closer way back then
And prouder as a nation
Now quickly things are changing
Technology has us gripped
No need to wonder where's the kids
Cos they're now micro chipped.
