It is more a feeling of longing
Of time that didn't pass
Time that you weren't here
Time that someone else has
The things we should have done
The things we should have said
The hugs, i must not have noticed them
The 'i love you''s when going to bed
Somewhere they were lost
Never seemed very important
As a young girl you weren't there
When I shined, proudly grinning
Miles away you stayed
Had I even been in your thoughts?
When I still had innocence
I was always full of joy
You were never there to see it
And now you feel my silence
We have drawn apart
But were we ever close?
You didn't teach me life's little lessons
Didn't teach me the hard ones
Who taught me how to throw a ball?
Who took me fishing for the first time?
Who danced with me when i was little, letting me keep my feet on top of yours
I missed those things with you
We just skipped all of them
I guess we can't go back
There are no redoes in life
I just wish we could have had something
Something more than just hello and goodbye
