Yesterday was here Today, and
Nothing had changed.
The smells of chicken frying in the pan,
the steamed rice
n the clay pots, the warmth of the fire from the fire-wood
In the
stone-stove.
Yesterday was here Today,
“Nothing changed” it said.
Had nothing changed? No,
The sound of water boiling, the smell of
Chamomile flowers: the tea for my grand-parents.
And the girl who washed her hair
With the tea that calmed my grandma’s nerves,
They were all gone now, all had gone
and abandoned me. Yet in a time that
had not
Changed,
Yesterday was here Today.
