My brain told my heart
not to fall for you,
and for quite a while,
I thought my heart might listen,
but the symptoms are
showing despite
my mind's warning
and I'm afraid
I might fall deeper still
until I drown
if I'm not soon rescued.
I told myself I wouldn't let myself,
but I just couldn't help it
and my heart isn't easy
to beat in such a fued.
My mind is still weary of it
and wants to test the waters,
but the heart isn't one for listening to reason.
