We watched in goulish fascination
As our mighty friends were felled
One by one, their majestry erased
As they came crashing to the ground.
We grieve
They truly were our friends, providing
Shelter from the icy blasts of winter
Coolly filtering the searing rays
Of summer's sun.
We grieve
We'd found a perfect haven in their woods
From all the noise.
What price this barefaced beauty?
