Born in Nangal in Punjab and trained as an engine mechanic this gentleman believed in making his dreams a reality. Confident of his skills this engine mechanic from Ropar packed his bags to leave for Dubai in late seventies. He came back in early eighties to start a family business in Punjab but went back again to Dubai in 1993 to set up a new venture.
Meet S.P.Singh Oberoi, an NRI businessman who heads a leading construction and de-watering organisation of Dubai as a Chairman. He is also known for his philanthropic and charitable activities in India and Dubai.
Talking to anchor Jaspreet Kaur in Pindan Vichon Pind on Zee Punjabi he says "I believe in the spirit of giving back to society". Oberoi funds school for special children in Patiala, organises mass marriages for the lesser privileged and also sponsors engineering students in Punjab by paying for their education and assuring them of jobs in Dubai. "You'll be pleased to know that many of them are girls!" he shares with a smile.
He was recently in news for the release of 17 Indian Youth from Dubai Jail in exchange of Blood Money to the family of murdered Pakistani Youth.
