The father of the legendary AK-47 assault rifle, Mikhail Kalashnikov, has died at the age of 94. The weapon - along with its successors - remains the world's most widely-used firearm, and also an instantly recognizable brand. Former U.S. Navy and CIA officer Michael Vlahos says that after more than six decades in use, the Kalashnikov rifle still stands up to its modern equivalents.
