A pilot in Pakistan recently delayed a flight for more than 2 and a half hours because he desired, of all things, sandwiches. The problem was that the subs weren’t on the already approved menu for the plane.
The flight was scheduled to go to New York. At the time the plane was slated for departure, caterers had already served the permitted items which included chips, biscuits and peanuts.
That wasn’t quite enough for the flight captain. Once he saw the fare, he demanded sandwiches be handed out.
Workers informed the pilot they were unable to serve anything that wasn’t already preapproved. The caterers also reminded him of the time, pointing out it was imperative for the plane to leave on time.
They claimed sandwiches could only be brought onboard if an order was placed with a five-star local hotel and that process could take up to two hours. The pilot still didn’t budge – he wanted those sandwiches.
Management was contacted and here’s where it gets shocking – they decided to meet the pilot’s demand and order the subs. Although the captain flew the plane after he got his way, the victory may not be long lasting. An investigation has been launched into the delay and he may face follow-up disciplinary action.
