German officials are preparing to remove Tascha, the canine best friend of a 10-year-old German boy who has been in a coma since birth, saying she’s dangerous.
A 10-year-old German boy named Dylan has been in a coma since birth, and his dog, Tascha, has been by his side for 6 of them.
She licks his hand, pulls back his covers, and when she lays beside him, Dylan’s heart rate and breathing slow to a calmer pace.
Now, however, German officials are saying the dog is dangerous and are demanding that Tascha be removed from the home.
After the family moved from Berlin to Brandenberg 2 years ago, Tascha had some issues with another dog, biting it and causing injury.
She’s since been classified as a threat and according to the area’s Dog Owners’ Act, she has to be removed from her home and possibly even impounded.
When news of her impending displacement began to spread, the public stepped up to help ensure that Tascha can stay with Dylan.
A petition was launched on Change.org and has already been signed by almost 90 thousand people.
There is also a Facebook campaign that is gaining momentum, with almost 180 thousand likes and growing.
City officials say the animal law is pretty ironclad, but did add that there may be room for special allowances.
