We take care of my 92-year-old blind grandma. There are 5 people in the house. My husband and I are sleeping in the basement. This is getting old very fast!
It seems that it would be much more cost efficient to buy a home rather than to find a bigger place to rent. In our area you can't get much rental for the money. We have lived here nearly 4 years and have never (and I mean never!) have been late on our rent.
Here is the major problem. My husband and I have poor credit. He became ill after we got married and we lived off of credit cards. We had to file bankruptcy over 6 years ago. We got back into debt (we are Americans) and this is frustrating. We joined CCCS a few years ago and we have our debt down to about $6000. My husband and I are working hard to deal with this. I work outside of the home and he has to stay home to care for grandma.
What can I do? Are there any programs that will help us? Will there be any lenders who can appreciate that we've never been late on our rent?
We're not looking to spend a lot...we want to live within our means. This current situation is just straining us greatly.
