As a licensed amateur ham radio operator, Jeff Cashmore has the opportunity to see the hobby from a different perspective than most. To him, and to many other amateur ham radio operators, ham radios offer a nearly fail safe communication alternative during a crisis or emergency situation. Jeff Cashmore notes that one such example of how amateur ham radio operators came to the rescue was when recent floods ravaged the areas of northern and central Colorado.
