Sure, you can slide a letter or bill into a standard-sized mailbox but where’s the fun in that task? Ube City, Japan is now home to the world’s largest mailbox.
Standing approximately 23 feet tall, just the idea behind it is awesome. The massive, red mailbox can hold over 2,400 cubic feet of mail ranging from normal sized letters to post cards.
As part of a Science Innovation Project, it was created by local university students. The mailbox was officially measured and unveiled in December of 2012.
It is roughly 12 times the size of a standard Japanese mailbox. It is derived from iron and serves as a replica in color and structure to traditional mailboxes.
Mail customers will actually be able to slip their mail through for an unspecified limited time.
However there’s a question as to how the mail can be inserted without a ladder to reach the mail slot.
How do you think this compares to the mailbox in your neighborhood?
